It would be nice but it's not likely to happen. There are several genes that regulate the special structures in the feathers that make them look green. The main one probably mutated a long long time ago, and once that one was broken there wasn't any more natural selection to maintain green color. So it's likely that some of the others have mutated since then and won't work any more. We'd need all the broken ones to mutate back to their original form for it to work properly, and it's almost impossible just to get one to do it.
