Since Marshmallow already started laying eggs, and they are most probably fertile. I decided to let them raise one clutch!

Congratulations! Have you figured out how you're going to stop them from having a second clutch? Because they're likely to want one lol.

You'll have to keep a close eye on the situation. Marshmallow just turned one so she's like a teenager having babies and might not be old enough yet to be the world's greatest mother. If Bio is older than that then maybe he can help make up for any attention-span problems that she might have.

Is Bio cinnamon or normal grey? If he's cinnamon, all his daughters will be cinnamon.

I think Marshmallow will be a better parent than Bio. She's always on her egg!
If anything goes wrong I'll just pair Marshmallow with Georgie. He is very experienced with chicks!
I'll take a picture of mommy on her egg!

I was expecting the standard "angry cockatiel making threats at nestbox intruder" type of photo, but instead the happy couple looks sweet and adorable! It looks like Bio is normal grey with a possible split to whiteface.

Bio is a cinnamon split to whiteface and pied. Marshmallow is a lutino pearl pied (I hope she is secretly split to whiteface)

Is the whiteface split determined by the white halo on his cheeks? The more cockatiels I see, the less I think that's a sign. Most of the grey boys I see has that white.

I think so. The whitefaces must have gone through a time when everybody wanted one, so maybe they have all their sneaky recessive genes all over the place.

Bio also has streaks going through his check patches, so that might be another sign.

How do I know how much humid I need for the eggs ? I don't want them to die from no humid and I don't want them to drown. They are in the garage with a fan blowing 24/7 and I open the garage gate everyday so that they can refresh the air that was trapped inside the garage.

The birds are doing great! Marshmallow is with the eggs the whole day, and I think she taught Bio how to sit on the eggs instead of burying them in the bedding. Marshmallow will most probably lay another egg tomorrow! I'll keep everyone updated!!

The surest way to check the humidity is to candle and weigh the eggs frequently to check the size of the air cell. Weighing the egg and adjusting the humidity level to keep the weight perfect is probably beyond most of us, but there's info on how to do it at http://www.brinsea.com/customerservice/humidity.html if you're game. Susanne's candling article at http://www.internationalcockatielresour ... -eggs.html has some info on proper air cell size toward the bottom.

It seems to me that all males have a white halo on the edge of the cheek spot, and I get the impression that Susanne really considers it to be a sign when it's pretty big (as Bio's is). But last time I looked in, the people on that other forum had the notion that any white halo at all is a sign of a split.

I'm doubtful about the signs myself. Ladybug has streaking in her cheek spot which is supposed to be a sign, but so far she has produced zero WF babies with a WF mate. But so far she has only had four babies where I knew for sure who the daddy was, so I haven't completely given up on the split yet.
