The father to my babies has a bald spot behind his crest. My baby is not developing feathers in the same place as its father. Is this hereditary? Is there anything I can do to promote feather growth? I really do not want my baby to have a bald spot! :fit:

Are you sure they aren't plucking the baby? I have a pair who is very abusive and plucks the babies so I have to remove the babies from them. Currently the youngest who is almost 5 weeks old has a bald spot on the back of his head/neck due to plucking.

I am sure. There are pin feathers appearing everywhere except right behind the crest.

Some mutations take longer for the feathers to come in behind the crest but I'm no expert on that so hopefully someone else can better answer. Do you have photos of the parents and babies?

What mutation is the bird? Bald spots are very common for lutinos. How old is your baby? Mine are 17 days old and still didn't grow those feathers yet.

I would just wait and see. My babies also have a bald spot, but there are feathers starting to grow.

If it stays like that for a couple if days without a single feather starting to grow in, I think it's safe to say that it was herited from daddy.

Does this mean the baby is a boy?

What mutation is the mother? If she isn't a normal grey than this bird is a female.

Correct me if i'm wrong
