I was reading an article about AGY relative to budgies and it says "Although AGY is contagious, it tends not to sweep through an aviary striking down every bird in its path. Rather, it sickens one or two, then later on, one or two more. Progress through the flock is typically stealthy and slow, and although the attrition over time can be heavy, its presence may remain unnoticed." It has nothing to do with your question but I was wondering if it's possible that your little one is one of those "carriers" and brought it in the house. This is the entire article if you want to read it http://www.tri-statebudgie.org/bakerstudy.html

Stephanie did say that Jaid wasn't feeling well first, then Beaker wasn't feeling well the next day. Do you think Beaker probably caught it from Jaid?

It's possible, but Poppy has been with Steph for a little while, don't you think that she would of noticed that Poppy was acting strange before it passed on?
@Tielfan do you think Sussane has experience with AGY? I hope she can give us some good advise

I do think Beaker caught it from Jaid. I was reading up on it as well. I assume it was because they preen and play with the same toys together. I was quick enough to get them away from the budgies, but not fast enough to get them away from each other. I feel awful on that part.

Here's a very good fact sheet from the Australian Wildlife Health Network: http://www.wildlifehealthaustralia.com. ... 2.0%29.pdf It says there is apparently no risk to humans and other mammals from AGY. They couldn't infect mice with it when they tried. How are the boys feeling now, and what happened at the vet? It's likely that by the time you realized Jaid was sick, Beaker had already caught it from him. Separating them probably wouldn't have helped.
