This little stunning boy hasn't stayed with us for a long time, just three weeks; if you live in an apartment as I do, I strongly suggest that a caique is not the right bird for you... If you also have smaller birds, I doubly recommend avoiding getting one!

This said, he is the most adorable little parrot I have ever met (I hope Bubu isn't reading this)




We would spend the early morning together, with him babbling away, grooming my hair (I read that's an obsession all caiques share), being a buffoon and eating his apple and grapes with gusto




Afterwards he'd sit on the windowsill and yell at all the passers by, dogs, humans, cars...




When the tiels woke up, he'd want to go say hello and really really really enjoy screaming at them and scare them, so that they'd start flying around like mad bats.
That's why he was basically banned from the bird room




If/when I will be an elderly lady living alone in a pretty cottage in the middle of nowhere, I will get caiques.
They are superfunny, affectionate, clever, the ultimate companion pet... and look at those orange puffy pants!!!

If anyone is interested in one, here is some info I found on them

They are not great for first-time bird owners, but they will always keep you entertained. They enjoy playing on their backs, hopping around the house, and just being comical. They are mischevious, stubborn, and need clear boundaries or they may become nippy.

They aren't good talkers, but they like to learn tricks and most will be friendly with everyone in the family. They can be noisy, so they are best kept in a house. Because of their strong personalities, it's best to make sure you get a hand-fed and properly socialized baby.

If you live in a house and are prepared to care for a medium parrot with a strong personality (and put up with some bites here or there), then you just might be the right owner for one of these energetic bundles of fun.

Hey, can someone try it and tell me what was the result?

I help with grooming services at the bird club meetings by holding the birds in a towel so the vet tech can clip them. Most birds object to being held, but a black-headed caique sang songs to me until the clipping began. He was adorable.

I took the test and the results were weird.

Canary or finch 93% What on earth gave them that idea??
Caique, lory, cockatiel, lovebird, small parakeet or parrotlet 87% Okay, this part is pretty accurate but it should be at the top of the list
Small conure, large parakeet, pionus, poicephalus 81% Should be a higher percentage I think. I actively crave a Princess of Wales parakeet, and I've fallen in love with individual Senegals and pionus parrots.
African grey, amazon, small cockatoo, eclectus, hawk head 75%. No thank you, these are gorgeous birds but they're too difficult for me. Hawk heads are supposed to be one of the hardest parrots to manage.
Large cockatoo, large conure, mini-macaw 68% I'd love to have a Patagonian conure actually, and I wouldn't mind a mini-macaw either
Large macaw 62% Should be more like 10% I think. Gorgeous birds and I can restrain them for grooming, but way too much for me to own.

I get cockatiels, all sized conures, caiques and large parakeets.

But in truth my next bird is either a GCC or a pionus, but I guess it doesn't want me to get a pionus.
