The embryo will slowly get bigger and the veins will slowly start fading as the embryo gets older.

Blargh waiting is hard!

Older egg is possibly drawing in veins--the main veins were still large and red this morning, but the smaller ones looked faded. I'm at work and my mother is instructed to call me if she hears a chick peeping, just in case. We should be about 18 days along, so it's the right time...

Fingers crossed! Was it the older egg or the younger egg that looked odd?

The younger one had the tilted air cell for the entire incubation, although the older one now has a very large tilted air cell as well. The air cell is getting pretty close to the 1/3 that Susanne says hinders embryo development, but I don't think the humidity is too low so here's hoping it's just irregularity because there's nothing I can do about it. Humidity around the room is still hanging around 70%, unless my gauge is extremely wrong. It's had mixed reviews, but I can't imagine it's more than 30% off.

Ok, fairly certain we have internal pipping in the older egg. I can see a little black pointy thing repeatedly coming up into the air cell.

Heehee! This is pretty much exactly what I'm seeing, except with a much smaller egg and beak.

Hehe I was right about the egg being 12 days old. The egg is now 18 calculating from the day I said it was 12, which is the time for chicks to start pipping.

Still no external pip. I can see a little head bobbing around in the egg though. Veins still aren't fully drawn.

I think the younger egg is dead--it's got a grey/yellow cast to it and I can't see movement. We'll wait and see though.

It's great that the first egg is continuing to develop. I'm sorry about the younger egg.
