I hope that title makes sense, but if it doesn't, I'm going to explain anyways.

It's always been one of my OCPD-like tendencies to read every post that's been unread. When a section on the forum website says there's an unread thread, I go in and see what's new.

Though for some reason, the "new members" forum section says there's something that's unread, but when I go into said forum, there's no new posts in any of the threads. I guess it's not that big of an issue, but it does bug me slightly. I've tried so much to fix it. Refreshing, going through the pages of "new members" threads, replying in one of the threads... The only thing I haven't tried, is reading every single thread (in which I'm kinda tempted to).

This could just be a graphical glitch on my side. Any way I can fix this?

I'm not sure what the problem is, but one possibility is that a post from a brand-new member is waiting for me to approve it before it actually appears on the board. I did approve such a post just now. In the past though these threads didn't show up in the "unread posts" alert, making it harder for me to notice that they're there.

One thing that gets me a lot is when there are some unread posts on an existing page and more on a new page. I'll read the new posts on the old page but I frequently don't notice that there's a new page, so when I go back to the main menu I see that there are unread posts in the section that I thought I just finished reading.

That must have been it, because it's fixed now.

Well, it's happening again, though in the general bird talk section this time. Do you ever have to approve topics in sections other than the "new members" section?

Any time a brand new member posts, I have to approve it before it'll appear on the board, no matter which section they post in. Before I set it up this way there was a lot of spam appearing on the board and some of it was seriously nasty. I just approved a new member post a few minutes ago.

I find it strange how I'm the only one that sees this. Then again, I'm probably the only one who reads literally every unread post.
