In your case, Stephanie, I'd think about the miniature side of pet art.
My sister did miniatures for a while, not for money, just something she wanted to try, and she got a lot of satisfaction out of it. I scolded her because she wasn't interested in the business side
It appeals to me a lot because I don't usually feel big attraction towards huge art pieces... I love compact. And a miniature can really be the essence of the pet you're portraying.
