i'm having cravings for a new bird. My parents told me before that they wanted to buy me a few but i didn't answer yes or no because i wasn't sure if I was ready for one. I reeeeeally want another one like so bad. I am particularly wanting a whiteface pearl or maybe a pied pearl. What do you guys think? Something tells me that i shouldn't because I keep having mood swings. but then something tells me that i am getting treatment for it and I can handle more of those adorable squishy faces.

Baruch, let's just say it was kind of silly to post on here... you know what I am going to say! :D

I love pieds. But, you also seem fixated on those whitefaces, so do whatever your heart's content.

I think some new birds will actually help you in the long run. I feel so much better around animals. In fact, when we move, I really think we're going to get a horse. Daddy is hemming and hawing about it, but mama has always wanted one and she thinks me having one will be a good stress relief, and I know in your heart you really love birds, perhaps this will give you that lift you need and possibly kick start you on a better path.

How many tiels do you have now?
Maybe go along and look at some, just see what takes your fancy... some colour totally different for a change...
Ask whoever is giving you treatment what they think... sometimes its better to wait till your totally fit.. be something to focus on also...

I am glad you are getting help for your mood swings. I know how difficult they can be.

You must be feeling better if you are thinking about adding a bird. That's great!

Anything that takes you out to the aviary will help with the mood swings. Pets are good therapy, plus the aviary is outdoors and being exposed to sunlight does good things to our biochemistry.

Stephanie - thank you so much! Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Jan - I have 7 cockatiels. I know if I go to any cockatiel shop I will come home with at least one.

Dianne - I started going to a doctor. He is starting to evaluate me. My next appt. Is on Tuesday night.

Carolyn - Thank you Carolyn. It's true. I was having a panic attack in the aviary for the first time so I quickly tried to leave but Tommy flew to me and didn't let me leave until I gave him his head scratches. The attack left almost immediately!

I think I'm going to take Jans advise and wait until I start seeing some results because I don't think its safe to add more responsible. I'm going to run out of food in 2 months so I'll see if it's a good time to get one then.

That's happened to me before. I started having a panic attack and B would hold my hand and preen my hair and Jaid made me pet him. They understand. When I feel sensorially overwealmed, I tend to get really quiet and want to be alone. The boys will waddle over doing that dorky cockatiel waddle and be silly and hop around and heartwing practically anything.

Now I want a POW (who couldn't see that coming)? I'm kinda stuck on which one I should pick. Cockatiels for the boys or a POW for me. I can kinda relate to Stephanie right now. How can I choose? If it's a POW I'm going to have a get a tame one so I can play with him or her. If it's a cockatiel I won't really mind cause I can breed them and get more tame babies that I will keep. I really like the look of POW's. They look so calm and friendly. But cockatiels are too. I think I would also want a new species to care for. But I also want Tommy, Levy, and Rio to be happy too.

How common are POWs in your area? Of you see them frequently I would jump on it. But, you know how I feel about cockatiels. I love them.
