What do you mean NOW you want a POW? You wanted one before lol. Prices vary by region, but the handfed baby that I've got right now was $275. You could talk to the local birdsellers about whether they ever get handfed babies and what they cost.

It's usually best to go for the bird who picks you. So look for a bird that acts like it wants to be with you. I suggested that the bird club get a POW because this one was practically calling my name.

Tielfan whats happens if you don't win the POW in the raffle? Do you keep him, and buy another, cos' I recon you wont want to part with him?
Its going to be hard isn't it?

If she doesn't win then she is going to have to give the bird away. :(
I think Carolyn can offer to keep him and buy another one of the raffle.
It can be hard but i think it won't be as hard because she has planned in advance that she might not keep him forever.

I haven't decided yet if I actually WANT to keep him. First I have to see how well he gets along with the cockatiels. If I want to keep him and don't win him, then I'll get along OK without him. At this point I've sold about 4 dozen babies that I loved while they were here, so I've gotten used to letting birds go.

If I want a POW and don't get this one, there'll be more at future bird marts. This one was special since he displayed an appealing personality instead of just sitting there in the cage, but there are other birds that do that too.

I am so happy to hear you are seeing someone. Good for you. I think you Will know when it is a good time to add another bird. I didn't hand feed my first clutch because I was worried about the responsibility I considered co-parentering but also was concerned that if I had a bad down day the birds would suffer. My birds bring me a lot of joy and sunny days are the best.

Good for you, you're on the right path! There are so many things that have an influence on our biochemistry and you're smart to take a multi-pronged approach and work on all of them.
