Does the patch of dark grey look familiar to silver when he was molting?

Here is a better picture :(

I really wanted 2 hens :(. I'm not heartless to return them back to the flea market. I guess that makes it 7 males and 2 females. Oh well...

Here is a picture of Silver just after I got him. He was eight weeks old:

I think his pearling in that picture looks a lot like your new bird's. I don't have a picture of him from the back, unfortunately. When I got Silver I kind of wanted a male. When he sat on my finger, something said "male" to me. But, I had a 50% chance LOL.

At least I'll have a Beaker twin. Maybe the other bird is hopefully a female. That would make me feel at least a little better. Eh, who cares. I got 2 new birds and that's the main part. Who cares if it's a female? Breeding is too risky anyways, right? Who needs the egg madness again? I think I might make my flock all male. Mo just feel bad for the babies. They were really wanting a girl. Uchh. I hate going back and fourth like this.

It could be loosing pearls, but it kind of looks like Jill's Chewy, who is very much a hen. Maybe the WF pearl is a girl.

But for some reason I think the pied is a cock. I dunno, just sort of looks that way.

But if it appears they are both cocks, welcome to my world. I am so overrun with boys. All my exotic pets are male. 4 birds? All cocks. 2 hermit crabs? Both male. I just got a betta fish yesterday and guess what? It's a male. I was going to get a female, because all the best fish I have had were female, but something about him made me pick him out. He's not very pretty, mostly dull, crooked fins, old, but I felt bad for him, so woohoo, another male pet.

Me too! He looks exactly like my Moon. It's scary. I see Moon when I see him. It's actually kinda nice. I can say it's a bird with Moon's soul. It actually makes me feel a lot better. Like I have Moon again. I am actually happy with what I have. I have always wanted a whiteface male.

But this time, you have a new aviary, so what happened to Moon will not happen to New Moon.

I know what you mean. I swear, Poppy is a perfect split between Jail Bird and Teak. I missed them like crazy and they sent me Poppy.

Did you know Beaker is also a pearl? When he was a little speck he was a WF pearl. He's still got his ghost pearls.

Your new birds are GORGEOUS! I wouldn't jump to conclusions about the sex of either one of them. The pearl could be a hen with slightly incomplete pearling, which is fairly common. The face color is whiter than a typical whiteface hen but it doesn't mean much since a non-whiteface pearl hen also has more yellow on the face and looks more 'male' than a typical hen.

Do you know what color their mother was? If the pearl's mother was not pearl, this bird is female. If the cinnamon's mother was not cinnamon, this bird is female. If the mother was the same mutation as the bird, it could be either sex.

If you want to be sure then DNA sexing is the way to go. Wing spot sexing isn't very reliable (it lies frequently with my flock) and it doesn't work at all with pearls. With pieds there's often a problem with so many clear wing feathers that you can't see enough of a spot pattern to tell whether it indicates male or female.

Thank you. That will leave us to a surprise. I'm pretty sure the pearl is tame. She is just shy. I think I remember seeing her as a baby last time I went there. The Flea market will not have a single clue on the parents.

Bluekeet, yes, i know Beaker is Pearl. I was just in a rush and couldn't get all the words I wanted to say.

I'm just going to check the wings regardless tomorrow and see what I can see. I can't sleep. I want to play with them haha.
