Well well well. After buying these horny babies 2 girls, they are STILL interested in Cloudia. (might I add, which hates them!) Maple seems to be doing her own thing in the aviary. She isn't really into love. But Maya. She wants love but the boys couldn't care less. They could have gotten 4 successful mates, and that's the only ones I saw. I can imagine there were much more. How do I knock some sense into them?

Your not going to guess who is actually wanting to mate with Maya instead...Griffin. Oh my god! Really?? Cloudia is into Griffin. But Griffin is into Maya. And the boys are into Cloudia. The only thing that might prevent Maya from getting a mate is that most of the day, she's on the birdie highway. I can't even bond with her because she won't come down. I forgot what those things are called. Barbara has them to prevent birds going in unwanted places. She mentioned them somewhere. I'll have to check. I think I'm going to put those on there because they are only hanging out there.

How interesting! So Cloudia is a female, but just not interested in any of the guys?
I think the item you were interested in was "bird spikes".
What is the superhighway--a high perch?

A bird highway is the wood that goes around the top of the aviary. This is it. Image

Baruch, your aviary is as big a soap opera as mine! My experience is that one can NOT knock sense into the birds. I have four males who would make an excellent mate for my lovely unpaired hen (Priscilla), but they literally won't even look at her because they're too busy pursuing hens who are unavailable and/or inappropriate. Your boys are still fairly young and spring is coming, so it's possible that in a couple of months their hormones will ramp up enough for them to realize there's more profit in courting a hen who actually likes them.

Done! I didn't get the window and fence spikes because it will make my aviary seem like a killer cage when guests look. I had chains in the garage and I covered the highway with it. Maya was terrified and kept landing on them but after a few seconds she learned that it's not such a cozy place anymore and is now perching!! I can finally continue taming with her.
