That is sweet about Silver. I feel the same way about Coyote.
As for non-bird people, I talk about Coyote (and the budgies, but mainly Coyote since he's the most interactive) at work and I joke about how I'm a crazy bird lady, etc. But when I talk about him, I mention things like how it's really not expensive to own a bird like him (as in, not a big, expensive, 80 year life span parrot) if you don't want it to be and how maintenance is really just a few minutes a day. I mix that in with some videos of cute stuff he does and while at first I am pretty sure they all thought I was nuts, I'm pretty sure they now see how not nuts it is and how in some ways, he's actually easier to care for than a dog or cat and I get just as much (if not more, for me) enjoyment from him than my dog or cat. I'm glad my dog and cat can't read, because I feel guilty saying that! But really, the fact that you basically have a pet that you can pretty much "turn off" at night (by putting him in his sleep cage and covering him up), is a huge plus for someone who has kids or an active household, you know? You just can't do that with a dog or a cat. Granted, the air quality, poop on stuff, etc is the flip side of that but for me, that's easy to deal with.
Anyways, I'm hoping that by the time I have some baby 'tiel chicks (whenever/if ever that happens), I may find a home or two via co-workers now that they are getting an idea of the benefit and non-crazy life with a bird like a cockatiel can be.

Silver is really liking to take naps on my shoulder. I guess I'm pretty boring. But, it's amazing to see him there with his head tucked into his wing. So trusting.
Oh, and this afternoon I was in the kitchen and he was flock calling. So, I started calling back to him: "Silver! Silverbird!" And, there he came, flying around the corner into the kitchen and onto my shoulder.
Meanwhile, Emma is sitting on her eggs. She's very attentive to them. This morning she left the bowl briefly, had a few seeds, took a drink of water, and went back to them.
