Every day, the first thing he does when I let them all out of the cage is spend the first half hour or so heart winging and singing his heart out to the budgies and all they do is run away from him. He chases after them insisting they let him serenade them but they aren't having it. I sorta feel sorry for him!

Also, a little annoyed. That turd never gives ME heart wings. And I feed him and give him attention! Birds are jerks.

He is only doing heart wings because he is a bird and the budgies are birds. We are humans and they know it. Maybe you can consider a cockatiel friend for him?

I was just kidding about him being a jerk, I'm emotionally OK with him only giving heart wings to the budgies. ;)

As for the cockatiel buddy, well I'd love to get him a female and eventually try and breed them, however my husband has declared no more birds at the moment. He likes them but doesn't have the same enthusiasm I have for them. Also, they live in our living room where we, you know... live, so it really does need to be a decision we both agree 100% on.

I'm working on him about it though, oh yes (picture me rubbing my hands like an evil villain).... muahahahahaaaa!

:plot2:

That's how I feel about another budgie, a snake and a horsey.

Alas, I know it will all be an undoubted no.

You could try holding a mirror in your hand to see how he responds. If he likes it you might get some heart wings and singing in your hand, even if it's not really directed at you.

Several of my males will heart wing and sing for me if I whistle a tune to them while I'm up close and personal and obviously whistling TO them not just near them. It's like they can't resist joining in the song, and the heart wings are an automatic part of the choreography.

Seriously! My husband could barely whistle when we got Coyote but he kept whistling at him and now, even though we're OOOOOOOOOOLLLLLDDD (not really but it feels like that sometimes!) he's gotten a ton better. I'm not too bad at it, since I practiced a lot when I was young walking to and from the bus stop every school year. I don't whistle anything like my grandpa though who could do that kind of whistling that has a trill to it like singers do when they sing long notes? I can only do a single solid note, but I figure that just makes it easier for Coyote to learn whatever I'm whistling to him. #silvercloud

Edit: My son is getting a lot better too, but it's easier for him because he's still a kid.
