Making my deck bird proof

Thanks you! more pictures from both Carolyn and B would be great to see!
My problem is that I don't have any handymen around, so it needs to be something easy. We were building rabbit hutch for many months and now we can only laugh at the result (it's miserable and barely useable)

Is chicken wire made of the same material? I never even thought to check on the safety of material. Do you think holes in chicken wire are large enough not to be safe?

I know for a fact chicken wire is not safe.

I love both B's and Carolyn's aviaries! We have chickens and I guarantee the wire is not appropriate for 'tiels.

because of wood and shelves. What are the dimensions, Carolyn?DO you get birds in while they are in the house and then roll a whole thing out, or is it not that portable? Or do you have to carry all of them into the aviary?

My aviary is on wheels so I can move it onto the porch when the weather makes it necessary. It's just a play area, the birds don't actually live there, so cleaning mostly consists of changing the newspaper at the bottom from time to time and sweeping the floor. I came up with the better and easier idea. I also have a front porch, it has a roof. I thought I would make two wooden frames with hardware cloth to just fill the empty sides. I should be good with two rectangular nor very large frames. Then I can just open the front door for them and roll their cage out to the front porch (for them to land on)

Drawbacks: they may start associating front door with a cool getaway, and this is not always the case. We don't want them to rush out every time somebody opens the door. I don't know what to do about it yet. Ideally would be train all of them to go into the cage.

Not amazing enough lol, the aviary is pretty heavy and it's not easy to drag it around. But apart from that it's great.
