I also have the aviator. When you will start taking him out with you, he will link the flight suit with going out /having fun, and he won't spend all his time trying to chew it off... He will be too busy having fun and looking around :D

Arg, I just think this size I got is too small! I have it on Coyote right now but I think I'm going to take it off because it appears he's learned how to get his foot inside of it and pull it enough to get the shoulder strap slipped off of his shoulder and onto his wing. Obviously a danger issue. It's coming off now.

I still really want this to work though, so I think I'm just going to buy a cheap trial version again (the plain white one) but in a slightly smaller size.

He's so clever that he's learned how to undress himself!

I know it! And, he's smart enough to hold a grudge too. He glared at me for at least 2 hours after I removed it. I would try to give him a beloved sunflower seed and he'd reluctantly take it and then toss it, hard, to the side. He was mad.

Then, he got mad at me all over again because I decided it was time for a clip when he was flying around and started bonking the ceiling and seemed to be having a hard time landing... as in he was going too fast to feel safe landing anywhere. I basically had to "catch" him in the air by putting my arm right in his flight path and he grabbed on. He also ended up on the ceiling fan earlier, a first for him since he never flew all the way to the ceiling before (even though my ceilings are actually quite low). So even though I love his clear flight feathers and they're not all grown in, I re-clipped just the first two on each wing.

Then he was mad and glaring at me all over again. More seeds tossed violently to the side. At least he's not one of those passive aggressive types, he just lets me know exactly how he feels straight out! ha

Side note: He has had a couple of short flights since the clip and is back to being able to fly well but also land well. I was careful to clip just to the... covert(?) feather line and I took care to make sure I was cutting the same feathers on each wing, since half of his feathers are grown in and are all different lengths (a couple have just fallen out too, so some are just plain missing, so it wasn't a simple just count the feather type thing).

It sounds like you clipped him properly and that it had the desired effect. He'll get over being mad lol.

It seems my clip job was just right (GO ME) because he was back to flying regularly, as in not bonking the ceiling and landing easily. But he didn't fly as much as before, so I feel sorta bad, like I took the fun out of flying for him but what are you gonna do? I also miss his pretty clear feathers. Sigh. I count myself lucky though, since this has been our big "drama" so far.

Well, that and he hates my husband and son and he drives them crazy with the screeching when I'm not home and/or leave the room but that's their problem not mine. I keep trying to teach them how to make friends with Coyote but my son just wants him to step up on his hand or hang out on his shoulder without going through the making friends phase and I keep explaining to him that it's just not going to work that way since Coyote has picked me as his person. I have this little fantasy that we'll get Coyote a girlfriend, they'll make some beautiful babies without any drama involved and my son can bond with one of the babies and have that be his bird. Still trying to talk husband into this and of course this is a year or so down the line, especially depending on the age of his future hypothetical girlfriend.

Cloudy, the foot inside the suit is something I had to deal with too.
If they can get leg/foot inside the harness or the flight suit it means that the suit is too loose around the belly.
If manages to do that, the suit is definitely not too small.
Can you take some pictures? I know it's impossible in that dressing situation so probably someone else will have to take the shoots

I agree with Barbara...doesn't sound like it is too small. I make Peach's lose to put over her wings and then adjust it pretty snug while she has it on.

I'm sorry, I meant to say the suit is too large and I need a slightly smaller one. I have a weird tic where I say a word wrong (usually a word I want to say later in the sentence as in, saying smaller because I was going to say I wanted a smaller size). GO ME AND MY WEIRD SPEACH TIC

My phone is a piece of junk right now and is quirking out on everything. I can't really take pictures with it right now unless I run through a zillion hoops and I'm too tired/busy at the moment to do that. I need a new phone, which will hopefully happen soon and by then, I should hopefully have the slightly smaller version of the flight suit I'm going to order today. Right now he has the size that's recommended for most cockatiels but they have a slightly smaller size that's recommended for smaller cockatiels, which I believe would fit him better. It's worth a try at least because I'm not going to put his current one on him again. He's going to pull it immediately off his shoulder and over his wing and just no. I did have it adjusted where the velcro was slightly overlapping to make it tighter too but the leg holes still had enough gap for him to get his feet in, intentionally or even accidentally, the gaps were that big.
