I love the tiny house movement. We are building a very small house in the back part of our property as a rental but when we get older we'll live there ourselves.
I love your design!

Yep, I'm doing the tiny house to save money. If I get married I'll either expand my house or just buy a normal house, until then, I need something simple.

The typical cost of a house in Forest Hill is $484,000.

The average cost of building a tiny house is $30,000. A good lot is about $29,000 in Forest Hill. So that's $59,000 compared to $484,000. I see it as more cost efficient. Although I would have to pay for the lot of course, and that a month varies anywhere from $70 to $200 a month in FH.

I wonder why everybody doesn't build a house there. Of course a larger house would be more than 30k, but still probably much less then 484,000 - 29,000 ?

I said in my earlier post, some drugs pass through that area because of the surrounding forests, but nowhere like other close places, like Stockton or Oakland.

The houses in Forest Hill are a lot cheaper than Rocklin and Roseville. I think it's because Forest Hill is in the middle of nowhere with hardly any people.

Alright, continuation question, can a budgie and bourke breed or would I not have to worry about that? Because I mean they are both parakeets, but I would prefer no cross breeding.

They could certainly mate with each other but they probably aren't related to each other closely enough to make babies. Of course we used to think the same thing about cockatiels and galahs, and look at how that turned out. But I've never heard of anything hybridizing with a budgie, and the general opinion seems to be that it's not possible. I found an interesting thread about it on Talk Budgies: http://talkbudgies.com/budgie-breeding/ ... ybrid.html On page two of the thread there's a photoshopped picture of what a budgie-bourke hybrid might look like.

Because the UK is such a small country, the price of building land is enormous, especially in some counties. You can buy agricultural land but that means you can't build a house on it

And even if you buy building land there are many hoops to go through, the Council must approve your plan and decide whether the type of building won't clash with the existing buildings and the look of the village nearby.
It's really difficult to do something like what you are planning, here, and such a shame...

I live in a 2 bedroom "mobile" home. It was built in 1977. I bought it for $29,000 four years ago. New ones go for over $100,000. However, there is much to be said for the older ones.

I have to pay coop charges for my lot (the community is a senior citizens cooperative). The charges are $350 a month, which includes all taxes.

Then, of course, I have heat and repairs.

I love my house. It's about 1,000 square feet. It is so much more economical than a conventional house. It's about the size of the two bedroom apartment I used to live in, but much less expensive and much more quiet and peaceful.

Dianne, is it one of those you call "double wide"? I have a friend who lives in north California in a good community, and I love the idea of having a house that can be moved!
Hers is very pretty, with garden, back garden, it really is like a normal house! I can't wait to visit her
