The new cage has arrived and let me tell you, its huge! I love it.Its like a bird mansion. I put in the new toys and perches and here it is after finishing setting it up.

I bet Tango will enjoy his new digs after he's had a little time to get used to them!

Looks nice! I hope Tango likes it. Does he play with toys? I recognize Prevue cage and I think I have exactly the same one. Let me ask (if it's OK with you Haimovfids) - my birds absolutely don't use the lower part, except for the situation when they have a night fright. It would be so much better if halves were not on top of one another but rather side by side (the main use of my cage is for the night time and my birds fight for spots in the upper deck LOL). DO you guys think it's possible to transform it in any way? Of course I would have to buy some additional parts.

I feed my birds on the bottom of the cage. This is a way of making sure they are using the whole thing.

It's probably possible to convert it into a side by side cage but it would be difficult. It would be easier to just buy a second cage and align them so the birds can use the side doors to travel from one cage to the other. My birds mostly use the top half of their big cages but they do go down to the bottom occasionally. This is just instinct, they feel safer being higher off the ground.

Thanks guys. Just as I suspected before I bought the cage, the bird only uses the top. I remodeled the cage today and it looks so much better than the one in the picture. I only put 2 perches and one toy on the bottom because he doesn't even use the bottom.

so... could anyone tell me what so terrific is in the cage where birds use only half of it? I agree, the cage is of a good quality, but this unused portion of it makes me unsatisfied a little bit. What's a point of having it this tall? I mean tall is fine, my birds love to use it's top but like I said, wouldn't it be more logical to have it wider or longer?

It does make sense to have a cage wider rather than tall... but heyyyyyy some birds use all the cage... My budgies have an extra large cage, and use every little bit of it... Over the years I've bought cage after cage, the wrong size, wrong shape, doors in the wrong place....etc.. I find until a bird is in the cage, you don't really know if you've made the right choice or not... its all trial and error... I have 2 cages standing idol, too tall and my birds don't like them for some reason... will I ever learn... Guess not!
