I always thought that birds get lost when they are disoriented (they don't recognize the surroundings) but it wasn't probably this situation. Could you tell me what happened right after she got loose? Did she just fly away from all of you? maybe she got scared of something... I think sometimes: what happens if one of my birds gets outside the aviary when they are outside? I always think that the bird would hopefully cling to the outside of the aviary wall to stay close to the flock but I can't be sure of course A loud noise which sounded like a saw must have frightened her it was next door and she flew off.

He probably did some flapping on the way down, and when one bird flies they all tend to take off. There might have been something else going on too that startled the birds and made them take off. They don't understand what's going on in a human neighborhood the way that we do, and might be spooked by something that the humans take so much for granted that we don't even notice it. She does spook easily shes scared of a few things including socks if she was in her cage and you showed her a sock she would fly out of the cage and out my bedroom door.Im gonna leave her in for a few days before going back out and she dosent really have a bond with anyone yet.

Being outside is very beneficial for my birds, but we don't use harness - we use aviary (which, again, isn't 100% safe). One time possibly a predator flew by and my birds panicked, some of them had blood of their faces. Could hit wall harder, and they would be gone. But, if I don't take them out in the morning for natural sunlight, they would be in a sleepy mode all day. Inside of this house is really dark and depressive. I don't know what we going to do when winter comes, they will probably hibernate until spring

Did she get to spend a night in the wild, or was she rescued before dark on the same day?

She flew away in the night so was probably out in the night the lost feathers was probably because she got tangled in a tree (My mam saw her get tangled in a tree and the. someone took her and brought her to the petshop)

Jan wrote: Glad you had your tiel back safely.... I'm not taking Obi out in Harness... nothing is really safe... mine's an indoor bird... Just goes to show you have to be vigilant at all times... I always hold the leash firmly it was my sister who was holding Loki when I had budgies I never brought them outside but I never heard of a harness or diaper until I got the tiels and I was happy with them as indoor birds.

I am so glad that you got her back!!! She is a lucky lady indeed! The aviator has a loop at the end of the leash, that loop MUST BE AROUND THE HANDLER'S WRIST ALL THE TIME! I am sure you know but it's easy to forget... That's why the first thing I do is to get the loop around my wrist before putting the harness on... That way I can't forget This said, again I am so happy she had such a lucky escape... Your neighbours are amazing, some people get escaped birds and let them go, believe it or not!!!
