I recognize BS when I smell it and I'm pretty good at researching stuff and slinging information around, so I'm hard to defeat in an evidence-based discussion.
Usually the last stage in the process is when the other person runs out of anything remotely fact-based to say so they switch to a personal attack, which happened here. She said I was long-winded and that's absolutely true. I always explain my reasoning and show my backup so that serious people can check it out and decide whether I'm right or wrong. It takes a lot of words to do that when you're talking about something complicated. I was amused by the complaints about the quality of some of the links, like it's my fault that she says stuff that has absolutely nothing behind it and crappy links are the only thing I can find related to the subject.
Or the complaints because I originally underestimated the protein content of the gloop. When I self-corrected that error it made things worse for her not for me. She's got a no-win situation with the gloop protein. The minimum crude protein requirement for a lot of parrot species is 10-15%, and that's also the protein content in a lot of seed mixes. If the gloop is less than 10% protein then she's flirting with protein deficiency which is a serious problem. If it's more than 10% it's got as much protein as a seed mix, with a higher level of complete protein because of the beans. So all those complaints about the high levels of Demon Protein in a seed mix would be equally applicable to the gloop. So you better not feed gloop in the morning either, it'll make your bird starve for hours at the same time it's giving him fatty liver disease, obesity, cardiovascular problems, aggression issues and I don't remember what else.

Probably because I said: "good on you for being mature", and she doesn't want to try and seem immature. Though she did say this: Quote: And I still don't know how many birds he has, how long he's had them, if he breeds them and what he is feeding them I answered the number of birds. You can answer the rest if you want Carolyn. I also decided to question what she said about supplementing. Let's see how she reacts.

And that's exactly what I said. I wrote: If you look at the little information under the username on the left hand side of all the posts, you will see that she has 14 birds, and the species listed are cockatiels and princess parrots. Since cockatiels are plural, and princess parrot is listed as singular, then it would lead me to make an educated guess that she has 13 cockatiels and one princess parrot

I see you responded to the thread, Carolyn. I respect that choice since it does make me cringe a little on the information she's giving. I don't know for fact if she is actually reading your posts but I know that I can't read here because it is almost nonsense.

I'm not planning to go back. When she talked about "he" I thought maybe she meant Brandon, but maybe not. I don't see why the number of anybody's birds matters. I don't plan to go back there, but if you want to ask more questions about supplementing then here are the ones that crossed my mind. She said you can regulate the D3 intake as the need arises. How can the owner tell when the bird needs D3 and when it doesn't? Draw a blood sample and use your home laboratory to analyze the vitamin D level maybe. I posted links to the expert panel recommendations more than once in the thread, but here it is again: http://lafeber.com/vet/expert-panel-on- ... nutrition/The D3 recommendation is 500 to 2000 icu per kg of food. What does that really mean? How do you figure out how much to give? She's now saying that the gloop is just like pellets only better because it's formulated by somebody who didn't know about the B12 requirement, not by somebody with a PhD in animal nutrition. Wait, aren't pellets supposed to be bad? If the gloop is similar to pellets then it must be bad too.
