Well climbing down to the lower level would actually be more challenging for her, given cockatiels are not used to climbing that way.
Once I put her on that lower level where she could reach the toys, and she insisted on climbing to that high part by herself. I was quite surprised she managed to pull it off, considering she had to stretch to grab hold of a rung with her beak and then lift her foot all the way to her face. I wasn't aware cockatiels could actually actually stretch their legs that far.
Maybe she likes it because it's the highest point of the stand. Well, the second highest that is. The highest point of the stand is actually a swing, which she gets on occasionally for a few seconds.
But Lucy is a strange one. It's hard to tell what kind of thought process goes through her head half of the time.
