Today I tried again it worked a bit. He's pretty suspicious about everything! When I put my finger with seeds on it he stretches his neck to it and back and sat there a bit then ate out of it. And last time my brother put the cage infront of him he was cocking his head a bit then flew in.

GUESS WHAT YESTERDAY! I got the spoon I use to scoop food from the food bag which they were scared of and held it in their cage about 2 inches away from Kaylee she was on her toy and was about to fly somewhere else so I put it about 2 inches away from Sunshine and he had one foot on the cage bar so he was about to climb away so I tried again with Kaylee and same result.Got back to Sunshine and again he got suspicious , but he tried it this time I was so impressed in Sunshine because that was the first time he tried something new and he didn't get bothered by Kaylee although she was about to try it but she's like umm. NEVERMIND. Oh and a few days before that I tried to give them uncooked carrots and washed them already then my grandma cut 2 pieces. So I got one and my brother got one and we tried putting it infront of their face but they were scared so I thought the size scared them so we ripped the carrot pieces and dip it in water because I heard they like wet veggies. This time them sniffed it them then made a face closing their eyes like you know how when sometimes we're disgust we close our eyes then wrinkle our nose.LOL Sunshine did that so I thought it was the smell and mixed the carrot pieces with the seeds and gave it to them they tried to get the seed without smelling the carrot but no use so it was a waste. I guess they don't like carrot in conclusion

It will take time, but if you're consistently gentle with them and focused on doing things that they enjoy, they'll learn to trust and love you. Wow birds are more interesting than I thought before.

Quote: I guess they don't like carrot in conclusion It can take a long time to teach a bird to eat new foods. There's an interesting reason for that, and you can read the details at http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... rsion.html along with tips on different techniques that you can use to encourage them. Although you did really well on your own - changing the presentation and mixing new foods with familiar foods are great techniques. It took me TWO YEARS to get my guys to eat carrot, and it's still not their most favorite food in the world. They like leafy greens a lot better.

oh okay..So can I try grass or dandelion? I heard budgies can eat grass but I don't know where to get clean ones that haven't been stepped on or should I just get some then rinse it well with NO SOAP?
