Eggs were laid 3/7, 3/11 and 3/13. Not sure she will lay any more but we will see. After she laid the first egg, both parents were very conctent to stay in the cage and nest box. After 2nd egg was laid they have started to want out of the cage. They sleep part of the night in the cage together and then part of the night with Roscoe being outside the nest box. In the am he is really wanting out of the cage and I have been allowing him out for an hour maybe longer. He then goes in the nest box and she comes out and stays out for a while. They trade off during the day. I hope this is ok. When out, they go back to their old cage which Smokey now sleeps in by himself to eat seed and pellets. I feed them veggies and whole wheat bread or birdie bread or other soft foods while out of the cage. Should I stop doing this? They have been sweet and cuddly outside of the cage but when they go in the nest box they want nothing to do with me. I do periodically open the nest box and talk to whoever is inside until I can sence they are getting stressed and then I leave them alone.

I have a dish of seed, a dish of pellets and water to drink and a dish of water on bottom of cage for them to in if they want to. I sometimes also but a dish of veggies or some bread on the bottom of the cage..

Also the nest box came with a little perch which is inside the box. I am now wishing I had taken it out. Should I leave it alone or try to remove it. It is glued so I would need to use a small saw.

As long as the eggs stay warm it doesn't matter who's in the nest or how often they switch off. It's possible that Roscoe wants out of the cage in the morning so he can poop - some breeding birds refuse to poop in the nest cage.

Keep on offering nutritious soft foods - when the babies hatch, soft foods will be easier for them to digest.

If you need a saw to remove the small perch, I'd just leave it in there for now and remove it when they're done breeding so it'll be gone next time. They might remove it for you, parent tiels love to chew up these perches.
