This boy

had a baby in heaven and came in the form of Poptart.

(And you can tell, I got a much nicer camera as time passed).

I swear to you, he is the perfect split of them, I am so amazed. He has the insane personality as Teak, but also the sassiness of Jail Bird. Teak was my lovebird I sometimes talk about and JB was my first budgie, who I also sometimes bring up. They were best buddies on earth and had to be right next to each other. Jail Bird sadly died from a violent prolapse and blood loss and Teak had a shock to his heart, only a few weeks after JB. I loved them so much. Jail Bird was clipped a lot since she was my first bird, so I'd scoop her up and put her on the bed with me. She'd sit and watch TV with me. Teak, he would run to me himself, tear up the couch and sit on the arm and watch TV with me. They both weren't tame, but they loved to spend time with me. Poppy reminds me so much of them both, everyday. He is getting more courageous each day, and is trying to attempt to land on my head. That was Teak's favorite spot. He would climb up my hair and sit up there for hours. He has Teak's attitude in Jail Bird's body.

I've been lurking here more regularly, especially since Beaker and Jaid got sick, because I was worried about them. I finally got around to joining.

It sounds like Poppy is turning out to be the perfect budgie.

Thank you. It means a lot to me that you would come out and search for more Beaker and Jaid updates. I tend to update more serious matter over here than at TC because of the smaller group and faster, more thorough replies.

And I do have to say, he's not that bad. Not really budgie crazy myself, you know. Cockatiel, lovebird and BBC for me, but I do have to say, they are a pretty cute team. You should see how Speck and Poppy attack a toy. It's the old, "I'll hold him and you punch" maneuver. Poppy will hold the toy at the base and Beck will power through it. It's quite comical to see. They do have some character. I need to get a video of Poppy coming out of the cage. It's so funny. Just like something Teak would do. He bat birds the whole way out and tries to leave upside down. He'll hang on with his beak and flail his feet in the air. Precious baby moments.

I wish he'd stay in his baby form forever, he's the most adorable baby I have seen... He is the one who changed my mind about budgies, I didn't like them before meeting him.

I don't know how anyone could not like a budgie....

You should see him now. He has a grey/blue iris and a huge pupil. And his yellow on his head is starting to get more vibrant.
