Today, I had them out on the top of their cage. I brought in a broccoli floret, which is Poppy's favorite, and he came to nibble it again. I slowly put my hand on the cage and inched it closer while he ate. I got very close to him. My goal was to touch the stalk of the broccoli he was eating. I did. My hand was only an inch away from him while he ate. Beck was uncooperative and didn't come to eat at all. He danced instead.

That seems like progress to me. My birds love broccoli as well.

Funny, my birds won't touch broccoli.....

Actually, broccoli was the first thing I weaned Poppy onto, and he took to it immediately. Millet doesn't really work on Poppy. No matter. Broccoli is healthier anyways.

The little green nubbins on broccoli florets look sort of like unripe seed heads. That's why birds like it so much!

I was resting my hand in the cage on a perch. Beck came down to it and so Poppy. Poppy licked my hand!

I hope you tasted nice and salty lol. That will encourage him to do it more often!

My birds love it when I hold a seed of millet on my fingers. They love to search for it and stick their beaks in my fingers to eat it.

Hmm, that's a good idea. I may have to do that with broccoli. Bonding and foraging.
