It means that most of them don't live as long as they could because they get into a lot of problems being parrotlets.

Even the petite size is not small enough for budgies, let alone parrotlets (I've checked). They don't make harnesses that small.

However, according to the flight suit chart on the avian fashions website, THEIR petite size will fit a parrotlet.

The chart is in alfabetical order, which you can view here. You can also try and measure the bird, and they will make one to fit the specific measurements.

Don't know about a harness for a P'let.... all the people I know who have P'lets say...good luck in putting one on... you'd have to be so careful as they are small and can wriggle out of most things...
The reason most people say P'lets don't live there full life expectance is because they are so small and fall, hide and can be stepped on so easily...Get a cage with very narrow bar space, as they can strangle themselves by pushing threw....
Your only young, and very eager, but don't get to over confident with your bird, take it slowly...
Good luck...I'm sure you'll have a wonderful P'let....

The only harnesses that I've seen that were on a parrotlet, that were the actual aviator brand, look big, awkward, and uncomfortable on the bird. I would recommend a flightsuit, because as Jan says, it would be very hard to put one on a parrotlet, because of their size. Not only that, but since parrotlets are high energy birds, I don't think you can get one to hold still. You would basically risk strangling the bird with the harness.

I think I remember you saying that your mother can sew and hem, so maybe you can modify the flightsuit for the p'let, because I have seen p'lets wear them, but you also need to make it light for such a small and active bird. I think it's possible, but be careful.
